Ministry of Commerce appoints administrator at IAEAB

The Ministry of Commerce has appointed an administrator for the International Air Express Association of Bangladesh (IAEAB). Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mazharul Islam has been appointed as the administrator of the organization for six months. The appointment was finalized in an order on Thursday.

He has been instructed to elect the IAEAB Executive Committee and hand over the responsibility to the elected committee of the organization within the stipulated time and carry out the day-to-day activities.

An office order of the Ministry of Commerce mentioned that the International Air Express Association of Bangladesh is an organization licensed by the Ministry of Commerce. According to the Trade Organization Act 2022 and Rules 1994 and the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association, there is an obligation to form a full-fledged executive committee through elections within the stipulated time. However an investigation by the Ministry of Commerce in the wake of the allegations found that the committee of the organization is performing its duties for the fourth consecutive time without elections.

In the light of the investigation report, the Ministry of Commerce sent a notice to the organization asking why an administrator would not be appointed. As the reply to the notice was not satisfactory and given the violation of relevant laws and rules, the Ministry of Commerce decided to appoint an administrator to the organization.
