Last April, 392 million dollars worth of products were exported from the country. This export is 99.99% lower than the same period last year.
Although commodity exports decreased in April, overall commodity exports are on a positive trend. In the first 10 months (July-April) of the current fiscal year 2023-24, goods worth 4 thousand 747 million dollars have been exported. This export is 3.93% more than in the same period of the last financial year. However, at the end of 9 months, this growth was 4.93%.
This information was informed in the updated statistics of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Thursday. According to EPB data, exports of Bangladesh’s top export sector, manufactured garments, have stood at 4.97% in the last 10 months. Readymade garments worth $4,490 million have been exported. In this period of the last financial year, the export of ready-made garments was 3 thousand 858 million dollars.
The Ministry of Commerce has set a target of 6,000 billion dollars for the export of goods for the current financial year. In the financial year 2022-23, the export of goods was 5 thousand 556 million dollars
